Be Spunki RECOVER is formulated with the world’s most pure source of spirulina compared with 24 products from around the world (inclusive of USA, UK, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, and India). Naif Abdullah Al-Dhabi, from King Saud University, carried out the research: "Heavy Metal Analysis in Commercial Spirulina Products for Human Consumption." This study reveals the concentrations of six typical heavy metals / minerals (Nickel, Zinc, Mercury, Platinum, Magnesium and Manganese) in 25 Spirulina products commercialised worldwide. The result shows that our Australian Spirulina is superior to the rest in terms of purity.

Spirulina is nature's richest and most complete protein source – 65% by weight of pure assimilable protein (300% more than fish or meat); 58 times richer in iron than spinach; 25 times richer in beta carotene than carrots; containing 100+ synergistic nutrients, including highly concentrated essential fatty acids; super high in vitamin B12, and significantly more effective than synthetic multi-vitamins.

Australian-grown spirulina helps with heavy metal detox, fights candida via improving gut health (improving the symptoms of leaky gut), is a powerful anti-microbial and immune booster, and is rich in tetrapyrrolic compounds closely related to bilirubin, which is a potent antioxidant and anti-proliferative compound.

Spirulina contains compounds that have a significant anti-hypertensive effect (lowers blood pressure), shown to reduce LDL cholesterol by up to 41% over 8 weeks, and stimulates the metabolism.

Adaptogens or adaptogenic substances are used in herbal medicine for the claimed stabilisation of physiological processes and the promotion of homeostasis.

The concept of adaptogens was originally created in 1947 to describe a substance that may increase resistance to stress. Adaptogenesis was later applied in the former Soviet Union to describe remedies thought to increase the resistance of organisms to biological stress. Another definition for a herb to be considered an adaptogen requires that it must be nontoxic, non-specific, and thought to affect physiology of the organism.

"Adaptogens act by stimulating the body’s nonspecific stress response via the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis and sympathoadrenal system”{1} .. scientists are still unsure the exact mechanism of action, but what we do know is that “various active constituents found in herbal adaptogens work to stimulate the neuroendocrine and immune systems via multiple metabolic pathways. They affect the brain, nerves, endocrine glands (pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, thymus, pineal, pancreas, ovaries, and testes), and immune system by helping re-regulate, normalise, and enhance function.”{1}

The exciting part is that we don’t need to solve the mystery of adaptogens to reap the benefits. The ancients have known for thousands of years about the physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual benefits of these plants … and we need them today more than ever.  You wouldn't argue with a Viking would you?
